This was a shape I've wanted to capture for a long time. I envisioned it as a large scale sculpture. When the opportunity presented itself, I went for it. This artwork is one-of-a-kind and is my largest sculpture to date.

I was inspired to make a strong, stoic shape. A few words that came to mind when I was making this sculpture were, grounded, elegant, confident, wise, and curious. It holds a calm yet confident presence in its stature. The finish of this creamy stoneware clay portrays purity in thinking forward and positively.
I have been exploring different textures in the clay. I think it is important to see where an artist's hands and tools touched and molded the artwork. You will see these very marks on this sculpture.
